Principles of Cellular Physiology

About Course

Principles of Cellular Physiology provides an in-depth examination of the fundamental mechanisms governing physiological processes at the cellular level. The course explores the molecular architecture, functional organization, and regulatory dynamics of the human cell, with an emphasis on the structure and properties of the plasmatic (plasma) membrane, mechanisms of transmembrane transport, and the bioenergetics of cellular metabolism.

Core topics include membrane composition and selective permeability; passive and active transport mechanisms such as diffusion, facilitated diffusion, osmosis, and ion exchange pumps; as well as cellular energy production pathways, particularly mitochondrial ATP synthesis and utilization. The course integrates theoretical foundations with applied perspectives relevant to biomedical sciences, medicine, and physiotherapy.
